Microsoft (MSFT)-backed OpenAI and Amazon (AMZN)-backed Anthropic were close to entering an agreement earlier this year to stress test each other's AI models, The Information reported Monday, citing a person with knowledge of the matter.

The companies were chalking out an agreement to run their models through diverse tests in a bid to identify potential vulnerabilities or hidden threats, the person told the media outlet.

The proposed deal stipulated that the AI firms would gain access to each other's application programming interface for commercially available AI models, with a guarantee that they wouldn't retain each other's data in the process, according to the report.

OpenAI and Anthropic did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
