Palantir's Stock is Heading for Its Highest Close of the Year, in a Dramatic Comeback

Palantir's last earnings report reignited investor enthusiasm, and now the company is basking in the glow of a real-world AI boom

Palantir's stock was on track for its highest close of 2026 on Wednesday.

Shares of Palantir Technologies have been on a tear since the company posted earnings last month, helping to cement a remarkable comeback off their June lows.

Palantir's stock (PLTR) was gaining more than 3% Wednesday and was on track for its highest close since December 2025, when it closed at $194.17 a share, according to Dow Jones Market Data. It has been up for six consecutive days, gaining roughly 10% over that period, and has climbed nearly 80% since hitting its lowest point of the year about three months ago.

StoneX analyst Yi Fu Lee told MarketWatch that he believes Palantir's recent stock rally continues to be driven by postearnings enthusiasm. He noted that the company reported "exceptional" results that boosted investors' conviction that Palantir is one of the stock market's biggest artificial-intelligence winners.

The data-analytics company materially raised its revenue guidance for the year and saw major growth in its commercial segment, as revenue there rose 149% relative to a year before.

At the time of the report, Palantir CEO Alex Karp told MarketWatch that customers' desire for control over their AI models had been a source of momentum for the company. Clients want to customize AI models and control their own data, and Palantir has catered to these needs.

Lee also noted that the company's recent consumer-facing events - such as AIPCon 11, the company's AI conference earlier this month - have given further credence to management's messaging around AI.

Another catalyst for Palantir has been its successful rollout of its Maven Smart System, or MSS, which the Pentagon continues to "go all in on," according to William Blair analyst Louie DiPalma. MSS has been the main driver of the company's revenue growth from the U.S. government, DiPalma wrote in a note last month.

Meanwhile, broader commercial AI adoption could also be having an indirect impact on Palantir's momentum, Lee said.

Recent news around Meta Platforms' (META) Muse AI agent has offered a proof point that real-world applications of AI agents are beginning to permeate the mass consumer market. And Lee believes that could be a boon for Palantir's growing commercial segment.

"As AI moves from concept to real-world usage across both enterprise and consumer environments, investors appear increasingly willing to reward companies viewed as leaders in deploying and operationalizing AI at scale," he said.
