Amazon-backed (AMZN) Anthropic is in early discussions to lease up to 1 gigawatt of data center capacity from Stream Data Centers, which is majority-owned by Apollo Global Management (APO), The Information reported Tuesday, citing people familiar with the talks.

The facilities could house Alphabet's Google (GOOG) and Broadcom (AVGO)-designed TPUs, as well as Nvidia (NVDA) graphics processing units, with Anthropic also discussing a potential credit guarantee from Google, according to the report.

The discussions remain in the early stages, with the final capacity and transaction structure still under discussion and an agreement potentially months away, the report added.

The arrangement would give Anthropic more direct control over data center capacity used to train and run its AI models, according to the report.

Anthropic and Apollo Global Management didn't immediately reply to requests for comment from MT Newswires.
