1229 ET - Nvidia and Microsoft are among the likeliest to usher in a shift toward open-source AI, D.A. Davidson's Gil Luria says in a note. Both benefit from a model-agnostic approach and have shown some inclination toward open-source, Luria says. Meta, on the other hand, could pivot away from developing their own proprietary models and toward open-source work. "We speculate that once Meta acknowledges defeat in the frontier model race, it will go back to its roots of being a critical contributor to the progress of AI through open source," he says. Luria also sees Amazon, Palantir, and Micron Technology benefiting from an open-source shift. (elias.schisgall@wsj.com)
