Microsoft (MSFT) is beginning to replace offerings from OpenAI and Anthropic with its own models in software products such as Excel and Outlook to reduce AI costs, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing a person familiar with the matter.

AI prompts in spreadsheet and email applications are now being completed each week with Microsoft's internal MAI models, according to the report.

The company announced seven new AI models at its annual Build conference in June, including one that matches the coding abilities of Anthropic Opus 4.6 at a reduced cost, the report added.

Microsoft did not immediately respond to a request for comment by MT Newswires.
