Sector Update: Consumer Stocks Mixed Pre-Bell Thursday

Consumer stocks were mixed pre-bell Thursday, with the State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLP) slipping by 0.1% and the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLY) up 0.6%.

Carnival (CCL) Holland America Line unit has opened bookings for Rotterdam's first Mediterranean cruise season in fall 2027, the company said. Shares of Carnival were up more than 2% premarket.

Diageo (DEO) Chief Executive Dave Lewis has ordered senior executives to implement broad cost-cutting measures as part of a major restructuring effort at the spirits giant, the Financial Times reported, citing people familiar with the matter. Diageo stock was up 1% pre-bell.

Kroger (KR) shares were down more than 9% after the company reported fiscal Q1 adjusted earnings per share that narrowly missed analysts' estimates.
