Marvell Technology (MRVL) plans to adopt Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing's (TSM) 1.4-nanometer process for future chips, Nikkei Asia reported Thursday, citing chief operating officer Chris Koopmans.

Marvell has begun working with TSM on its A14 process, which is due to enter production in 2028, and plans to continue using the foundry's technology as long as it remains the industry leader, the report cited Koopmans as saying in an interview.

Marvell has committed $1 billion in prepayments and is providing suppliers with five-year demand forecasts to secure manufacturing capacity, the report said.

Marvell and Taiwan Semiconductor did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
