Walmart Gets Boost from Upper-Income Shoppers -- Market Talk

0814 ET - Walmart says it gained share in the U.S. in its latest quarter across categories and income tiers, led by upper-income households. When it last reported earnings in February, Walmart had similarly pointed to strong market share gains with higher-income households, and noted that consumers continue to spend cautiously, especially low-income shoppers. The company has said in recent quarters that the spending gap between high- and low-income households is widening.(kelly.cloonan@wsj.com)
