Zara has denied infringing Estee Lauder's (EL) Jo Malone trademark in an infringement case, Reuters reported Friday, citing a court filing.

Zara said its use of the brand's name on perfumes is part of an agreement with Estee Lauder forged in 2020, the report said.

Perfumier Malone and her Jo Loves brand launched a collaboration with Zara in 2019, the report said.

Estee Lauder contends that Zara violates its intellectual property by using the words "Jo Malone" in describing the Jo Loves perfume on its website and packaging.

Estee Lauder and Inditex, Zara's parent company, did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
