Seasonally adjusted job vacancies in Australia rose 2.7% to 337,900 in the three months to February, the Australian Bureau of Statistics said Thursday.
Private-sector vacancies increased 3.2% to 299,000, while public-sector vacancies fell 0.7% to 39,000.
"There were 337,900 job vacancies in February, the highest level since November 2024," said Sean Crick, the Bureau's Head of Labor Statistics.
Of the 18 industries in Australia, 12 saw an increase in job vacancies in the three months to February, with the biggest rise recorded in the construction industry, up over 19%, followed by wholesale trade.
The largest percentage fall in job vacancies was in information media and telecommunications, down 9.5%, followed by arts and recreation services.
Job vacancies increased in seven of the eight states and territories in the quarter to February, with the largest rises in the Northern Territory and Tasmania, while South Australia was the only state to see a decline.
Job vacancies over the year to February rose by 12,100, an increase of 3.7%, with private and public sector vacancies up by 3.6% and 4.7% respectively.
