Asia Optical Reports Factory Fire in Myanmar, No Casualties

Asia Optical (TPE:3019) said a fire broke out at its unit Myanmar Asia Optical International early Thursday due to a battery malfunction in its power supply system, according to a Thursday Taiwan Exchange filing.
Shares slid about 2% in Friday's afternoon trade.
The company said the blaze was quickly contained to the first floor of the factory, with no casualties reported.
Initial assessments indicate the damage was limited and is not expected to materially impact the unit's operations.
Asia Optical added it will work with local authorities and the unit to investigate the incident and implement preventive measures.
