HSBC Issues $2.5 Billion in Debt

HSBC (HKG:0005) said it issued $2.5 billion worth of debt, according to a Hong Kong bourse filing Wednesday.

The bank issued $1.25 billion in 6.75% perpetual subordinated contingent convertible securities due 2031 and $1.25 billion in 7% perpetual subordinated contingent convertible securities due 2036.

HSBC had announced plans to issue the debt last week.

The lender's share rose 1% in Hong Kong trading Wednesday morning.
