1146 ET - Gecko Robotics receives a five-year indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract with a $71 million ceiling from the U.S. Navy to assess the health of military assets using AI and robotics. The Pittsburgh-based private company will begin with 18 ships in the U.S. Pacific Fleet, with the initial award worth up to $54 million. Gecko, which has previously worked with Navy ships, uses robots, drones, and sensors to collect data for AI models which can identify current or future structural issues. Navy data show that Gecko substantially reduces the lead time and work hours associated with maintenance cycles, the company says. (elias.schisgall@wsj.com)
