Thai Healthcare Sector Faces Headwinds From Middle East Conflict -- Market Talk

0141 GMT - Thailand's healthcare sector faces temporary headwinds from the Middle East conflict, DBS Group Research analyst Sasikarn Udomvej writes in a report. The region remains one of Thailand's key sources of medical tourists, with Bumrungrad Hospital and Praram 9 Hospital having the highest exposure to Middle Eastern patients' revenue. However the impact on the sector's 1Q earnings should be limited as the conflict coincides with the Ramadan period, which is typically a softer season for Middle Eastern medical travel. "Once geopolitical tensions ease, we expect Middle Eastern patient demand to rebound strongly, supported by Thailand's reputation as a regional medical hub," DBS says. (amanda.lee@wsj.com)
