- Paramount Skydance PSKY.O emerged as the winner in a months-long battle to acquire Warner Bros Discovery WBD.O, after streaming giant Netflix NFLX.O on Thursday refused to raise its bid for the storied Hollywood studio.

- Artificial intelligence company Anthropic said it wouldn’t back down in a dispute with the Department of Defense over artificial-intelligence guardrails, complicating efforts to reach a compromise ahead of a Friday deadline.

- Jack Dorsey’s Block XYZ.N on Thursday said it will cut over 4,000 jobs, nearly half its workforce, as part of an overhaul to embed artificial intelligence across its operations, sending shares of the payments firm up 25% in after-hours trading.

- Vanguard Group will pay $29.5 million and bolster its passive investing approach in order to settle a suit by 13 Republican state attorneys general claiming the fund manager and rivals violated antitrust law through their climate activism.

- Walmart WMT.O has agreed to pay $100 million to settle Federal Trade Commission claims that the retailer misled delivery drivers about the pay and tips they could earn.

- Brink’s Company BCO.N plans to acquire NCR Atleos NATL.N for about $4 billion in cash and stock, a deal that combines two major players in the ATM business.
