Fresh Del Monte Produce reported higher fourth-quarter profit, helped by higher banana prices.
The company posted net income of $31.9 million, or 67 cents a share, up from $20.4 million, or 42 cents a share, the year prior.
Net sales ticked up to $1.02 billion from $1.01 billion.
The increase was driven by higher sales in the company's other products and services and banana business segments, "reflecting increased activity in third-party ocean freight services and higher per-unit banana selling prices," the company said. The growth was partially a result of tariff-related price adjustments.
That helped to offset lower sales for the company's fresh and value-added products business segment, which was driven by reduced sales volume in the fresh-cut vegetable product line following the sale of certain assets.
