TFI International's Guidance Disappoints, But Green Shoots Seen -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
Feb 19

1156 ET - TFI International's 4Q beat was solid, but National Bank's Cameron Doerksen says the company is still operating in the midst of a soft freight backdrop. He notes that 1Q EPS guidance of C$0.50-C$0.60 is well below his prior C$0.78 forecast and the consensus expectation of C$0.86, due to "very challenging weather conditions in January" that depressed revenue and raised costs. What's more, Doerksen notes that management declined to issue full-year guidance given an uncertain market. Still, Doerksen says that there is growing optimism that conditions in both the U.S. and Canada could improve later this year, supported by signs that trucking capacity is finally exiting the market, which could sustain a pricing recovery for the industry later in 2026.
