BUZZ-Oil companies rise as Russia-Ukraine talks end abruptly

** S&P 500 energy index .SPNY up 1.4%, tracking rise in crude prices O/R

** Brent crude futures LCOc1 up 3.19% at $69.58/barrel, U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures CLc1 up 3.3% to $64.39/barrel

** Oil prices rise after peace talks between Ukraine and Russia in Geneva ended after only two hours, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy describing them as "difficult"

** The U.S.-mediated talks in Switzerland took place as U.S. President Donald Trump has twice in recent days suggested it was up to Ukraine to take steps to ensure their success

** APA Corp APA.O, Baker Hughes BKR.O, Targa ResourcesTRGP.N, ConocoPhillips COP.N and Occidental Petroleum OXY.N up between 2.8% and 1.1% among top percentage winners on energy index

** Oilfield services company Halliburton HAL.N climbs 2.5%

** Refiners: Marathon Petroleum MPC.N up ~1%
