Aurora Innovation (AUR) is years ahead of is competitors in creating fully self-driving on-road commercial vehicles, Oppenheimer analysts said in a note to clients Friday.
"We are encouraged by the efficiency of its technology foundation, which is enabling rapid Operating Design Domain expansion leveraging on-road experience and simulation capabilities," the analysts wrote.
Oppenheimer said demand for the company's vehicles remains strong, and exceeds its planned production schedule. It also estimates savings of approximately 15% of driver expense, and fuel savings of 14% to 34%.
"It appears that AUR's unit economics would put non-automated carriers at a significant disadvantage which should further drive adoption," the analysts wrote.
