Honda Motor (TYO:7267) will release the ICON e:, a Class 1 electric scooter, at EV motorcycle dealers nationwide on March 23, according to a company statement released Thursday.
Priced at 220,000 yen including tax, the model comes with one detachable lithium-ion battery and charger. The scooter offers a range of 81 kilometers per charge based on a 30 km/h steady-state test and can be charged either onboard or by removing the battery. Full charging from zero takes about eight hours on a 100V outlet.
The ICON e: uses a rear in-wheel motor and features an ECON mode to curb power consumption. It includes a 26-liter under-seat storage box, a front inner rack, and a USB Type-A socket for device charging.
Built by Honda Vietnam, the 87-kg scooter is powered by a 48V lithium-ion battery and is designed for single riders. Honda targets annual domestic sales of 2,200 units.
