Stellantis (STLA) is in talks with the Canadian government and unions on the future of its idled factory in Brampton, Ontario, Bloomberg said Thursday, citing Trevor Longley, the company's chief executive officer in Canada.
Longley said on BNN Bloomberg TV that the company wants "to find a sustainable option for Brampton" after Stellantis moved production of its Jeep Compass SUV to the US, the report said.
Stellantis is working "proactively" to find solutions for the ongoing tariff hurdles, Longley said, according to the report. "The reality is that we want to build cars in Brampton," he said in an interview at an industry conference in Toronto, according to the report.
Stellantis did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
