WPP Could Sell Businesses to Shore Up Finances -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
Feb 10

1303 GMT - WPP has options at its disposal if it decides to sell some its assets to gain financial flexibility, analysts at Citi say in a research note. The U.K. advertising company could explore a sale of some or all of its public-relations assets, and notably its Burson agency, according to Citi. Another option could be a sale of data company Kantar, but WPP holds a minority stake and doesn't have control over any sale process, the analysts say. "However, we would note it is unlikely management would preemptively highlight its intention as it would potentially undermine its ability to realise the best value in any potential sale process." Shares rise 2.4%. (adria.calatayud@wsj.com)
