AGL Energy (ASX:AGL) has launched an energy savings reward program for customers where they can earn up to AU$10 in credits on their bill each time they reduce their home energy use during a peak event, according to a Friday statement by the company.

Under the Peak Energy Rewards program, AGL electricity customers with a digital "smart" meter in Victoria, New South Wales, South Australia, and Queensland can opt in to an event reduce their energy usage to or below their pre-set personalized energy reduction target, which will be set for individual properties and notified before each event and may differ with each event.

Solar customers may be asked to reduce their solar energy use by exporting more solar to the grid, the statement added.
