Genesis Energy (ASX:GNE) entered into a conditional 15-year power purchase agreement with Yinson Renewables for the latter's 94.6 megawatt Mt Cass wind farm in Canterbury, New Zealand, to purchase 70% of the electricity generated by the wind farm once it becomes operational, according to a Monday filing with the Australian and New Zealand bourses.
The wind farm's construction is scheduled to begin early in 2026, and the completion is expected in 2028. The agreement is expected to be effective July 1, 2028. It is anticipated to produce over 300 gigawatt-hours of new renewable energy each year.
The offtake agreement has an agreed starting price for the first 10 years and a market reset for the subsequent five years.
