Daikin Applied to Invest $163 Million in New Minnesota HVAC R&D Lab

Daikin Industries (TYO:6367) unit Daikin Applied will spend $163 million on a new research and development test lab at its headquarters in Plymouth, Minnesota, to advance technologies for commercial HVAC and hyperscale data centers, according to a Wednesday statement by the company.

The 71,000-square-foot facility has begun phased commissioning of nine test cells and is set for full completion in 2027. The lab will replicate extreme operating conditions for data centers and support work on next-generation airside systems and heat pumps.
