Singapore's Temasek names former DBS CEO Piyush Gupta as India chairman

SINGAPORE, Nov 28 (Reuters) - Singapore state investor Temasek Holdings TEM.UL has appointed former DBS Group DBSM.SI Chief Executive Officer Piyush Gupta in an advisory capacity as its chairman in India, effective December 1, 2025, it said on Friday.

In the non-executive role, Gupta will work with Ravi Lambah, Temasek's head of India and strategic initiatives, to shape investment strategies, support portfolio companies as they identify opportunities, and engage with government and business leaders in India, Temasek said in a statement.

Gupta, 65, led DBS from 2009 until earlier this year, steering the Singaporean lender through a widely recognised digital transformation and regional expansion that helped it become one of the world's top banks.

Gupta is currently deputy chairman of Keppel KPLM.SI, chairs the boards of trustees of Singapore Management University and Mandai Park Holdings, and holds several advisory positions in Singapore and internationally.

"Piyush brings extensive business insights and strong connections developed over decades in financial services,” Temasek CEO Dilhan Pillay said.

"Complementing Ravi's leadership of our India market, he will provide strategic counsel and help strengthen our institutional networks in India and beyond, enhance our franchise value, and expand our portfolio access," Pillay said.

Temasek manages a portfolio worth S$434 billion ($334.75 billion) and has been deepening its presence in India, a key growth market.

Gupta said he looked forward to collaborating with the team "to deepen partnerships, pursue new opportunities, and contribute to Temasek’s continued growth in India."
