Lowe's and Home Depot Customers Willing to Spend, Just Not Too Much -- Market Talk

1412 ET - Lowe's and Home Depot each recorded higher ticket sizes in 3Q, a sign that their customers are trading up for more expensive products even as they defer larger remodeling projects due to economic uncertainty and high interest rates. Lowe's and Home Depot depend largely on homeowners, a group that skews more middle and upper income that is still willing to spend, says Piper Sandler analyst Peter Keith tells WSJ. "They still want the newer innovation stuff," says Raymond James analyst Bobby Griffin. "But they're not willing to invest the multiple thousands or six figures in some of these remodel projects," Griffin tells WSJ.(nicholas.miller@wsj.com)
