HSBC's (HSBC) Swiss private bank is raising the pay of some of its bankers in a bid to ward off staff exits, Bloomberg reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The Swiss arm has been raising compensation of certain staffers like relationship managers as the unit as seen a number of exits in recent months, including interim head John Shipman, the report noted.
"We are investing in our Swiss Private Bank as we evolve our platform," as the firm aims to further grow its wealth business, a HSBC spokesperson told MT Newswires.
Shares of the company were up nearly 1% in recent Friday trading.
