Vertical Aerospace (EVTL) said Thursday it has received its Permit to Fly from the UK Civil Aviation Authority and commenced phase 4, or the transition flight testing, which is the final stage of its VX4 prototype program.

The regulatory approval allowed the flight-test team to begin testing the VX4's transition maneuver, which shifts the aircraft seamlessly between hover and wingborne flight, the company said.

The approval was based on safety and technical information submitted by the company.
