Disney Executives Reportedly Inform Staff YouTube TV Deal Still Stalled

Walt Disney's (DIS) Disney Entertainment Co-Chairs Dana Walden and Alan Bergman, along with ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro, said in a staff memo that the Alphabet (GOOG, GOOGL) YouTube blackout would continue another sports-heavy weekend, multiple media outlets reported Friday, citing the memo.

The news follows after it was reported that Disney-owned networks, including ABC, ESPN, and FX, were pulled from YouTube TV on Oct. 31 after the companies failed to reach a new agreement on programming costs.

The Disney executives reportedly said in the memo that the company has offered Google a deal that would cost less overall than the previous license and allows flexible packages for sports, entertainment, and kids' content, but "[d]espite all this, YouTube TV continues to insist on receiving preferential terms that are below market and has made few concessions," the memo added.

"Once again, Disney is resorting to their old tactics like leaking documents to the press, negotiating in public through their paid talent and misrepresenting the facts, including from the deals they've offered and taking credit for our product proposals. Our team stands ready to make a fair agreement in line with their deals with other distributors, and we encourage Disney to come to the table and do what's best for our mutual customers," a YouTube spokesperson told MT Newswires.

Disney didn't immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comments.
