One notable absence from this year's Virginia governor race: a signature photo of the Republican candidate posing thumbs-up with President Trump, the mark of his endorsement. Trump expressed support for Republican hopeful Winsome Earle-Sears when he was asked about the race by a reporter in October, but stopped short of a full endorsement. "I think the Republican candidate is very good, and I think she should win," the president said aboard Air Force One.
The two have a history. Earle-Sears crisscrossed the country in 2020 campaigning for the president as head of the Black Americans to Reelect Trump group. However, in 2022 she said in an interview that Trump shouldn't launch another campaign. "A true leader understands when they have become a liability," Earle-Sears told Fox News.
