0742 GMT - Share prices of Chinese developers may remain rangebound in the near term unless a policy package is announced, say HSBC analysts in a research note. Following an investor roadshow, the analysts see housing demand as still solid, but reckon market sentiment needs more policies and better macro to fire back up. Policy expectations are low as investors believe boosting the property market is not a policy priority, they say. However, the analysts see current valuations as presenting better opportunities for HSBC's preferred picks, which include China Resources Land, C&D International, and Seazen Group. "We believe these companies have higher earnings upside on a normalised basis," which could fuel a rally when risk appetite towards developers rises again, they add. (tracy.qu@wsj.com)
