Honda Motor (TYO:7267) unveiled new hybrid and electric vehicle technologies at its Automotive Technology Workshop in Tokyo, outlining models set for launch from the second half of the 2020s, according to a Thursday company statement.
The automaker introduced a lighter, more rigid mid-size hybrid platform debuting in 2027, a large-size hybrid system for North America featuring a new V6 engine, and production plans for the compact Super-ONE EV.
The new hybrid systems aim to boost fuel efficiency by over 30% and acceleration by more than 10% compared with current gasoline models. The Super-ONE EV, launching in Japan in 2026, will feature a "Boost Mode" and simulated 7-speed transmission for a sportier driving feel.
