Stellantis' (STLA) Chrysler is recalling 320,065 electric vehicles over concerns that their high voltage batteries may fail internally and lead to a vehicle fire while parked or driving, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said in a report that emerged on its website on Tuesday.
The vehicles include Jeep Wrangler 4Xe's built between 2020 and 2025 as well as Grand Cherokee 4Xe produced between 2022 and 2026, the US auto safety regulator said in a report dated Oct. 30.
A remedy is currently under development with interim notification letters explaining the safety risk to be mailed Dec. 2 and additional letters sent explain a final remedy once it is available, the report said.
Stellantis did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
