Samsung Electronics (KRX:005930) established the Samsung heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) test lab in Japan's Asahikawa, Hokkaido, the electronics products maker said in a Wednesday release.
Asahikawa is Japan's coldest region, where Samsung plans to develop heating technologies that perform reliably in extreme conditions below -20°C. The lab will test Samsung's advanced defrost system and heat pump solutions to enhance efficiency and performance in severe winter climates.
The company collaborated with Hokkaido University and global research partners to boost innovation in heat pump and HVAC technologies for domestic, North American, and European markets.
Shares of Samsung Electronics rose nearly 1% in recent trade.
