Inflation Data, Intel and Tesla Earnings: What to Watch Next Week -- WSJ

The U.S. government shutdown is set to drag into another week next week, but that doesn't mean investors will be starved for economic data. Friday brings a (delayed) look at September's consumer-price index, a key inflation reading that will factor into the Federal Reserve's next decision on interest rates.

Earnings reports pick up as well, with 90 S&P 500 companies set to report next week, according to FactSet. Intel, Tesla, Netflix and Procter & Gamble are among the big names to give updates. Here's what to watch for.

Monday Oct. 20:

-- Economic Data: Leading economic indicators for September

-- Earnings: Zions Bancorp, Cleveland-Cliffs

Tuesday Oct. 21:

-- Earnings: Netflix, GE Aerospace, Coca-Cola, RTX, Philip Morris International, Texas Instruments, General Motors, Lockheed Martin 3M, Capital One, Mattel, Intuitive Surgical

Wednesday Oct 22:

-- Earnings: Tesla, AT&T, IBM, Thermo Fisher Scientific, GE Vernova, Boston Scientific

Thursday Oct. 23:

-- Earnings: Intel, Ford, Blackstone, T-Mobile, Union Pacific, Honeywell, Newmont, American Airlines, Southwest Airlines

-- Economic Data: Existing home sales for September, Kansas City Fed manufacturing index for October

Friday Oct. 24:

-- Economic Data: September consumer inflation report, October consumer sentiment readings from the University of Michigan, new home sales for September, PMI manufacturing and services data for October

-- Earnings: Procter & Gamble, Sanofi, HCA Healthcare, General Dynamics
