American Express is expected to report higher third-quarter profit as its affluent customers continue to spend. Analysts and investors will watch the outlook for the rest of the year, with the all-important holiday season approaching.

The results will be the first since its announcement to acquire Comerica in a $10.9 billion deal. Also, Regions Financial is forecast to report a rise in third-quarter profit, helped by higher interest income and a jump in fees and commissions.
Elsewhere, Paul Atkins, chair of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, is set to appear in a conversation at the annual membership meeting of the Institute of International Finance.
Bank of Canada Governor Tiff Macklem will speak to Canadian reporters on the sidelines of the IMF/World Bank meetings in DC.
Lastly, Brazil's October inflation reading, as measured by the IGP-10 price index, is likely to rise 0.18%, following a climb of 0.21% in September.
