1017 ET - McDonald's made headlines during the recent quarter when it said it would lower the cost of its combo meals, but that excitement hasn't flowed through to its stock price. Rather, investors seem to be waiting to see whether the value push can actually move the needle when it comes to the burger chain's traffic and financials, especially considering nothing appears to be able to move the needle in the quick-service restaurant industry as of late, Morgan Stanley analysts say in a research note. The analysts expect a modest miss in 3Q, but they note McDonald's appears to be well positioned for near-term acceleration, citing easier year-over-year comps, the return of its Monopoly game and the chain's ongoing expansion in beverages.
