Teck Resources' Chile Mine Issues Appear Transitory -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
Oct 08

1156 ET - Teck Resources' Chilean mine may be struggling but it isn't fundamentally broken, says Scotiabank's Orest Wowkodaw. In a report, the analyst says Quebrada Blanca copper mine has problems, largely due to ongoing throughput constraints associated with the Tailings Management Facility, which will negatively impact performance in 2025-2026, but shouldn't constrain throughput and performance beyond 2027. He notes that even though guidance has been reduced for the next couple of years, with revisions slightly weaker than Scotiabank's estimates, Wowkodaw says his "biggest takeaway is that QB does not appear to be a structurally broken asset."
