Teck Resources (TECK) said Wednesday that it lowered the copper production guidance for its Quebrada Blanca mine in Chile as work on the tailings management facility continues and following the completion of the company's comprehensive operations review.

The mine is now expected to produce 170,000 tonnes to 190,000 tonnes of copper in 2025, from the previous range of 210,000 tonnes to 230,000 tonnes, according to the statement.

Teck said the ongoing tailings management facility development work at Quebrada Blanca has slowed ramp up and "constrained" the mine's production.

The impact is expected to continue through 2026, and the miner also cut the mine's copper output guidance for 2026 to 2028, according to the statement.

In addition, Teck lowered its copper production outlook for the Highland Valley Copper mine for 2025 to 2026.

Teck has a pending merger deal with Anglo American and the latter said it is "fully supportive" of Teck's approach to ramping up Quebrada Blanca's operations in the next few years.
