AeroVironment Picked for $499 Million Contract by US Air Force Research Laboratory; Gets $246 Million in Task Orders

AeroVironment (AVAV) said Wednesday that it has been picked for a 10-year, $499 million contract by the US Air Force Research Laboratory for the High-Performance Electromagnetic Spectrum Survivable Materials Advancement program.
The company said it has received two initial task orders for this contract valued at $246 million to develop vision protection materials, and carry out research on the effects of electromagnetic spectrum sources on US materials, components, and systems.
The company said it plans to start work this month.
Shares of AeroVironment were up 3.7% in recent Wednesday trading.
