AUD/USD to Trade Above 0.70 Before Crunch Comes -- Market Talk

0431 GMT - AUD/USD is on track to rise from 0.66 now to fair value at 0.72 over the coming quarters, in large part because of a decrease in the U.S. dollar, says Joe Capurso, economist at CBA. Still, AUD/USD won't sustainably trade above its long run average of 0.75 in the first half of 2026, he adds. China's economy will expand below potential again in 2026. And even if China announces a stimulus package before the year-end, the structural issues in property, banking and demography will hold back demand for metals. Prices for iron ore, oil and gas are set to decrease further, Capurso adds. (james.glynn@wsj.com; X @JamesGlynnWSJ)
