Sector Update: Consumer Stocks Rise Pre-Bell Monday

Consumer stocks were edging higher pre-bell Monday, with the Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLP) advancing by 0.2% and the Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLY) up 1.8%.

VF (VFC) shares were up more than 3% after the company said it is selling its Dickies apparel brand to Bluestar Alliance for $600 million in cash.

J Sainsbury said it has terminated talks for the sale of its Argos general merchandise retailer business to JD.com (JD). Shares of JD.com were up nearly 2% premarket.

Hain Celestial (HAIN) stock was down more than 20% after the company reported that it swung to a fiscal Q4 adjusted loss as revenue declined during the period.
