0639 GMT - Coupang remains a key beneficiary of the South Korean government's ongoing handout of consumption coupons that boost e-commerce traffic, Nomura analysts Angela Hong and Won Kang write in a note. As Korean households use vouchers for offline purchases, they are likely to reallocate more of their discretionary budget to e-commerce platforms such as Coupang, the analysts say. The total handout amounts to KRW13.2 trillion, equivalent to 2.1% of Korea's 2024 retail sales, they reckon. In August, the combined monthly active users of Korea's e-commerce platforms increased 24% on year to 95 million, with Copang's MAUs rising 16% to hit a new high of 31 million, according to Sensor Tower data.(kwanwoo.jun@wsj.com)
