Red Cat (RCAT) said Tuesday that its Blue Ops maritime division has collaborated with Hodgdon Shipbuilding to produce the first five uncrewed surface vessel prototypes as part of its objective to deliver battle-tested unmanned surface vehicle weapons systems for multidomain operations.
Financial details weren't provided.
Hodgdon's facilities in Maine will be used for the prototype production, and the company will also serve as a research and development site for Blue Ops as it refines mission-specific forms of its USVs, Red Cat said.
The company added that Blue Ops has leased a 155,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Georgia to support and scale full-rate USV manufacturing and will open a headquarters and showroom in Florida for operations and customer engagement.
Shares of Red Cat were down 2.1% in recent trading.
