Snapchat Faces Dutch Probe Over Sale of Vapes to Minors

Snap's (SNAP) Snapchat social media platform faces an investigation from the Netherlands Authority for Consumers and Markets in connection with the sale of vaping products to minors, the agency said Tuesday.

The agency said it saw enough reason to launch a probe based on the information submitted by the Youth Smoking Prevention Foundation, which believes that Snapchat breached the European Union's Digital Services Act or DSA.

The DSA mandates platforms to ensure they have measures in place to protect minors but it doesn't say what online content is legal or illegal, the agency said.

Other laws determine legality or illegality of online content, such as the Tobacco and Smoking Products Act that deems the online sale of vaping products as illegal in the Netherlands, the agency said.

Snap didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
