Metro Mining's (ASX:MMI) Bauxite Hills operation in Queensland shipped 753,101 wet metric tonnes (WMT) in August, a 6% year-on-year increase, despite early-month weather disruptions, according to a Monday filing with the Australian bourse.

The company's year-to-date shipments reached 3.4 million WMT, keeping it on track to meet the full-year target of 6.5 million to 7 million WMT, the filing said.

Improvements in materials handling enabled the barge loading facility to reach a record average throughput of over 1,700 tonnes per hour in August, the filing added.

The company's shares fell 1% in recent Monday trade.
