New Zealand shares rose on Monday as most Asian indexes traded higher after soft US labor market data from last week had strengthened investors' hope for a Fed rate cut in September.
The S&P/NZX 50 Index rose 0.44% or 57.61 points to close at 13,281.14.
Meanwhile, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba resigned on Sunday as he took responsibility for a series of election losses.
In domestic news, New Zealand's national average rental price dropped to NZ$628 in August, the lowest since September 2023
In corporate news, Eroad (ASX:ERD, NZE:ERD) will be added to the S&P/ASX All Technology Index before the opening of trading on Sept. 22.
