1002 ET - Restaurants are offering deals to draw customers amid weak consumer sentiment toward restaurant spending, say UBS analysts. McDonald's has already said it would discount meals, a decision that will likely force lower prices and discounts throughout the industry, "with select brands likely to add new promotions and increase marketing focus on value offers," the analysts say, citing promotions being offered by Domino's, Shake Shack and Chipotle. "Already, key brands are utilizing more compelling promotional offers in recent weeks to improve value perceptions and drive traffic in a difficult macro environment in which consumers are managing visits or spend given menu price inflation or pressured spending power."
