Singapore shares closed higher on Tuesday, even as most of the regional indices closed in red, Wall Street's return after the Labor Day holiday.
The Straits Times Index (STI), a key benchmark for the Singapore Exchange, ranged between 4,273.26 and 4,301.17 throughout the day. It ended the session at 4,298.51, up 22.44 points or 0.52% compared to Monday's close.
In company news, shares of Asiaphos (SGX:5WV) surged 50% at the close as it entered into an agreement with United Malayan Land (KLSE:4561) to acquire around 97.41% stake in Exquisite Mode.
Eneco Energy (SGX:R14) was down over 9% as it allotted and issued 504 million shares pursuant to the exercise of warrants at SG$0.009 per share.
Meanwhile, Ever Glory United (SGX:ZKX) was up nearly 1% as it received a listing and quotation notice from the SGX-ST for the listing and quotation of new shares and additional conversion shares.
